Pedro Boat, a renowned yacht builder with more than 50 years of experience in yacht construction, sales and service, was looking for an innovative solution for the H2home cruise edition (floating vacation home). This floating vacation home had to be equipped with a sustainable and silent energy supply system, which minimizes the carbon footprint and maximizes comfort. The challenge:
Pedro Boat wanted to equip the H2home cruise edition with a hybrid energy system that is both powerful and whisper quiet. The requirements included a system capable of powering the boat electrically (using a 25 kW electric motor) while charging a 53 kWh battery bank, without exceeding 1 meter in height for installation of the energy system. In addition, it was essential that the system was as quiet as possible to ensure living comfort on the water.
Customized Energy Solution
After thorough consultation sessions, WhisperPower designed a customized energy system for the H2home cruise edition. The core of the system is the horizontal 48 VDC battery bank connected to the Combi 25 kW electric motor. This battery bank, specially designed to fit within the limited height space of 1 meter, ensures even charging and discharging of the batteries, resulting in optimal service life and reliability.
Two WhisperPower Converters (WPCs) convert energy from the battery bank to 230 VAC, providing clean power to all onboard appliances. The roof of the H2home cruise edition is equipped with solar panels to charge the battery bank with solar energy, further reducing dependence on the Yanmar diesel engine.
